New England Patriots> Patriots Blog> Patriots 2021 Regular Season

Good morning, this is your Sunday Patriot News 12-12 and AFC East Notes.

The Patriots have won seven consecutive games and are now one and a half ahead of Buffalo (thanks to the national team's victory) and (currently) the top seed of the AFC. But after 13 games, Goodbye Week is a good time for them to give some injured players time to rest and recover.

With the victory of Tampa Bay, the Patriots will actually win another half of the game against Buffalo, increasing the score to two games. So it's definitely worth seeing today.

Three of their last four games (Indianapolis, Buffalo and Miami) will have an impact on the division and division. Don't watch it now, but Miami has won five times in a row, and Brian Flores' team has been putting together a good game.

Have you checked our PatsFans.com sortable Patriot statistics? This is a great resource for all the players on the roster.

Home field advantage? Not so much: The Patriots’ 3-4 home record of Bill Belichick is a different atmosphere for the team under the leadership of Bill Belichick, but in general, in the NFL, especially in the In the AFC, after fans were allowed to return after the COVID, the expected home court advantage in 2020 has not yet been achieved.

Buffalo's record at home is 3-3, while the Colts, Bengals and Chargers all have records of 3-3. The best teams in the AFC home court are the 5-1 Ravens and the 5-2 Chiefs. NFC has two undefeated teams at home, Tampa Bay and Green Bay, and the team with the best NFL record, Arizona, has 3 wins and 2 losses at home.

It will be interesting to see if this will continue into the playoffs.

Hunter Henry: The Patriots tight end and his wife Parker welcomed their first child this week and they shared the news on Instagram.

Henry once said that if his wife gave birth in a Patriots game, he would miss a game, but the timing is good for the team because his wife gave birth during the team’s goodbye week, which would also allow for a little time.

Devine Ozigbo: After JJ Taylor was added to the reserve/COVID roster, the Patriots signed Ozigbo to their training team. But if Damien Harris's hamstring injury prevents him from playing at any time, his signing may open the door for defenders.

Ozigbo, 5 feet 10 inches, 220 pounds, averaged 7 yards per dribble when he sprinted more than 1,000 yards in his senior year in Nebraska. Although he only ran 4.65 on professional game days, his 37-inch vertical jump in 3-Cone Drill also ran a very good 6.95. If needed, he is a strong runner who can adapt to the Patriots system.

Demaryius Thomas: The former Broncos, Texans, Patriots and Jets WR won five consecutive Pro Bowl seats and died this week at the age of 33. Thomas performed very well in Denver, especially after Peyton Manning was introduced to QB.

The last time he participated in the competition was in 2019, and it is known that he has had epileptic seizures in the past year. It is believed that he died of a seizure at his home in Atlanta on Thursday night.

4th & 2 Podcast: If you haven't checked our PatsFans.com podcast "Patriots 4th & 2", please check it out. Earlier this week, we gathered to review the MNF's victory over the bill.

Las Francis/Chuck Fairbanks: Both the former Patriots’ close end and head coach should be in the Patriots Hall of Fame... This will appear in our post on Sunday until It happened.

Cliff Kingsbury was selected by the Patriots and Bill Belichick from Texas Tech University in 2003, but is now the head coach of the Cardinals. His team has a 10-2 record in The best record in the league. Nevertheless, Kingsbury is considered the second coach of the Coach of the Year award. Belichick rarely receives support for the award, and he is considered a popular candidate for the best coach of the year.

For Bilichik, this is a considerable change. Some media and fans questioned whether after a very rare 7-9 losing season a year ago, after a 2-4 start in 2021, whether It's time to start changing coaches.

However, Kingsbury believes that this award should not only be awarded to Belichick this year, but every year. Not only that, he also believes that it should be named after the Patriots coach.

"They should name the award Bill Belichick and bring it back when he retires," Kingsbury told the media when asked about his and Belichick's 1-2 odds of winning. . As the head coach of the Patriots, Belichick has won 6 Super Bowl titles and more than 300 games, including 31 playoff games, but he has been named Coach of the Year only 3 times.

"Before he retires, I don't think anyone else should win this award. He should be the one who has been coaching every year."

The Kraft family is planning to make some large-scale renovations to Gillette Stadium to enhance the fan experience and increase the indoor space of the stadium, but will these changes also affect football matches on the stadium? We will have to wait and see.

In a statement released, the Kraft family called these changes "the most notable improvement of Gillette Stadium since it opened in 2002."

The renovation project is scheduled to start in 2022 and will start from the square where space is wasted on match day now, because this is where fans must pass through security to enter the venue. Jim Nolan, chief operating officer of Kraft Sports Entertainment, said that the security checkpoint will be pushed aside, and the square will then be opened to fans, allowing them to enjoy "part of the game day experience and atmosphere."

The iconic lighthouse will be enlarged and enhanced to 218 feet higher than the surrounding area. Fans can now enjoy a 360-degree panorama from the observation deck, which will be open 365 days a year.

The open end of the stadium will be closed because there will be a 75,000 square foot glass-enclosed reception and function space, as this part of the new space will connect the East and West Putnam Club, the East and West Dell Technology Suites, and the upper hall.

From the website of the Patriots, a 370'x 60' high-definition board with a bending radius will be installed in the northern end area, making it the largest outdoor stadium video board in the country. From replays to fan videos, this new section will enhance fans’ match day experience.

Although the bottom area is still open to the square, it is questionable whether this will affect the football game if the top area is closed. Sometimes it can be tricky to play on the open end of the court. Can the decoration be changed? possible. For those fans who have been to other stadiums in the league, Gillette is not as good for loud noises as others. The open end has a lot to do with this. With these glass-enclosed functional spaces, will Gillette become louder? Just wait and see. But judging from the artist's concept shown below... it looks great.

The country's largest outdoor stadium HD video board, a 218-foot high lighthouse, with a 360-degree viewing platform and a reimagined gathering space.

Since the Patriots played on Thanksgiving, the Buffalo Bills have prepared a mini goodbye for the Patriots. However, despite the extra time, they don't seem to be ready to stop the Patriots' running competition. McDermott often appeared on the sidelines and looked very angry throughout the game. As with anything else, when you lose your composure, the coach will be affected. This seems to continue to the entire team.

To make matters worse, almost an hour after the end of the game, McDermott appeared at his press conference and was asked about Bill Belichick. Then he started a little rant. It was terrible, he seemed to have Belichick in his head.

"At this point, we don't want to give more honor than we need to give Bill Belichick," McDermott said, as quoted by The Athletic. "Whether it's Bill or anyone else, they beat us. You sit here and you tell me that when we started from the average starting position at the 40 yard line and he started at the 23 yard line... we were at The red zone 4 shot 1 and they were 0 shot -1 in the red zone-you give me in advance and I will say,'I like my chance.

"With all due respect, I don't think this is a Bill Belichick thing. This is what you do with the opportunity you have? We turned the ball over at the 30 yard line, which is sloppy football. In that case I am at ease."

The Bills had an important game on the way to Tampa Bay today. It is expected to become a fascinating football game.

During their terrible 1-7 start, Fins trailed Damien Harris 0-8. Now, they have won 5 consecutive victories, and in the case of 6-7, the playoffs are still a difficult proposition, but at least it is possible now.

They will face the Jets, Saints, Titans and Patriots in the next game. Their defense has indeed strengthened, and Tua Tagovailoa played very well. But they still have to surpass the Bengals, Chargers or Bills, and if New England remains at the top of the division, they will sweep them.

But the reason Miami is in this position after that terrible start is Brian Flores. B-Flo makes players believe in him, his system and each other. No matter how Fin ends this year, Flores will return next year.

The Jets’ sixth consecutive season continues, but with the youngest player roster in the league and a new coaching system, this is not surprising. But the injury did have an impact on their defense, and now they have got the bad news that New Orleans is returning Alvin Camara to this week's game.

With the Jets' porous defense, the Saints are expected to use Kamara and QB Taysom Hill in the running competition. Hill has limited passing ability, but is a very effective base runner. On the other hand, if OL gives him time to pitch, Jets’ QB Zach Wilson should find some space against the second-tier players in New Orleans. The Saints used solid running defense and passing sprints to cover up many problems in that minor stage.

"That's why we practice here!"

Bill Belichick joins the team after Monday's windy Buffalo victory

I think all of them. All of these have an element. Josh [McDaniels], as usual, did a good job of making game adjustments. Some games we have, we just need to straighten out or adjust a bit. We have added some things that we have, but we don't expect to be big shots in the game. We missed a few things there and made a few tackles due to the loss. Again, it was a team with a good defense, so this will happen. Hope we can implement these things better. In general, I would say that this is a combination of the two. Some adjustments in the game, some better things they are working on but encountering problems, and may add some things you did not expect because of how they are consistent with a certain appearance. "

When asked how the team adjusts their game plan in the fierce competition with different formations and personnel, Bill Belichick's comment.

"So, how was your week?"
